Alternative Luxury Hotels in Amsterdam

November 13, 2017

Finding an amazing venue in Amsterdam with all the technical support facilities can be a challenge. It needs to be in a convenient location, have several different meeting space requirements, comfortable bedrooms, be luxurious, have space for guests to stay and serve great food. Fortunately, we’ve visited 3 luxury hotels that set new standards for event venues.

QO Hotel

Some hotels lean towards luxury but in doing so become more wasteful. Other’s try and be more sustainable but sacrifice the luxury people want when travelling. QO Amsterdam’s aim is to seamlessly weave both together and that’s exactly what they’ve done.

QO Hotel Bedroom

With a dedicated floor of creative areas, made up of 8 unique meeting rooms that can be combined to create the perfect sized space, it’s an ideal place to conduct meetings or events of up to 120 people.

You can also hire the Juniper & Kin bar exclusively during the day for up to 240 guests; the entire 482m² first floor accommodates up to 120; or have private cocktails on the 21st-floor roof terrace for 20.

The 19th floor Amstel suite is also available – a private space for exclusive press events and product launches.

QO is all about giving you the freedom to be imaginative, whatever your event.

The location is also fantastic, being only a 15-minute drive from Schipol Airport and with secure parking for 130 cars. A short 8 minute hop on the metro and you’re in the heart of the bustling city centre. Location and ease of access – it has the best of both worlds.

The food can also be customised for you as you craft your own meeting or event menus from the seasonal choices, whether that’s a livening breakfast or handmade canapés.

If you’re arranging charity dinners, association events, corporate hospitality, product launches or Christmas parties, it’s the perfect place for such an occasion. And because the whole thing is tailored around you, you get a really unique experience – where business can be a real pleasure.

Kimpton

The Kimpton Hotel opened up in May this year, the first hotel in Europe from the American hotel juggernaut DeWitt. It’s technically unrated but as a boutique hotel it operates a 5-star service and really lives up to that billing.

It offers a modern approach with luxury through fresh, refined rooms and imaginative spaces steeped in traditional Dutch design. The decoration and furniture is first class and the attention to detail is wonderful. We really felt at home. In fact, everybody said when we left – “This is how I want to decorate my own house!”

Kimpton Suite

Nestled in the Palace Quarter, it’s right at the heart of Amsterdam’s city centre and just a stone’s throw from the train station. That makes links to Schipol airport less of a headache and exploring the city easy as everything is within walking distance.

Kimpton has 11 flexible meeting spaces ranging from 33 to 238m², fitting up to 200 guests. They offer a variety of backdrops that will not only impress guests but will leave them smiling. Imagine running the show with your presentation in PC Hooft, a sophisticated boardroom. Or celebrating a new deal with cocktails in the Wildwood Room, a private event space within the house bar.

If you’re looking for something modern and luxurious in the heart of Amsterdam, you’ll struggle to find better than The Kimpton.

The Amstel

The Amstel Exterior

The Amstel is a five-star superior hotel marked by a long tradition of genuine hospitality and discreet luxury. The grand Dutch residence turned 150 this year but still remains as elegant as ever. Resting on the bank of the River Amstel, close to the city centre, this iconic building has been a home-away-from-home for multiple generations.

The calibre of people who have stayed here ranges from The Queen and The President to Madonna and Bono. But beyond the famous faces, it’s the little curiosities that give this beautiful building its character. The extra-wide corridors are designed so that ladies wearing large dresses (popular at the time) don’t bump into each other when passing. The steps are slanted upwards so that women didn’t have to tug their dress to avoid stepping on them. Everything is designed for elegance and remaining graceful.

Alongside these oddities, you have the grand, traditional features like big chandeliers, high ceilings and the wonderful grand staircase. The elegant décor of the hotel creates a special touch – think Beauty and the Beast.

Amstel Hotel Lobby

There’s 7 rooms available, with space for up to 350 guests, so if you want an elegant private dinner or a great celebration in the ballroom, you can tailor The Amstel around your needs. They offer the opportunity to take over part or even the whole hotel for your exclusive use and to give it the look and feel to make you completely at home. There are many possibilities for you to personalise the hotel, both in and outside, the entrance, the terraces alongside the river Amstel or the façade. You can make it a truly personal, memorable experience.

Amstel Meetings Events

Enjoy an even higher culinary level at your event with signature dishes from restaurant La Rive. This concept offers you the opportunity to host a meeting/event with an extraordinary dinner. The chef prepared for us an amuse-bouche that was utterly mouth-watering, giving us a nice insight into the food they make.
